๐Ÿ“ข [Important] Announcement: YouTube Channel Membership Termination & Full Open-Source Transition of Research and Educational Content

Dear QUAD Membership Members, Researchers, and Developers,

Hello, this is Sang-wook Ha, CEO of QUAD Drone Lab.

Since our foundation in 2019, QUAD has achieved remarkable milestones, including being the first in South Korea to supply Pixhawk-based autonomous drones to the military. All of this was made possible thanks to your unwavering support, dedication, and passion shared across the field and academia. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you.

Today, as QUAD prepares to take a greater leap forward, we would like to share a significant transition with our community.

Our ultimate vision at QUAD is to “popularize the global non-GPS autonomous drone ecosystem and build a world-class technology hub.” To accelerate this mission, we have decided to terminate our paid, closed-membership system. Instead, we are fully transitioning our accumulated high-value educational and research technical contentโ€”including Pixhawk, ROS 2, V-SLAM, and companion computer integrationโ€”into an open-source, entirely free format for all developers and students worldwide.

By breaking down technological barriers, we aim to enable more innovators to learn, test, and build autonomous flight systems. This marks the first major step for QUAD to expand as a global partner in drone research, development, and consulting.

Please find the detailed timeline for the membership conclusion and the open-source transition below:

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Timeline & Next Steps

  • Membership Billing Suspension & Termination Date: July 1, 2026Our paid membership features will be phased out sequentially through the YouTube Studio system. Accordingly, all recurring member subscriptions will be automatically canceled.
  • Retention of Final Month Benefits: Members with remaining billing cycles will retain full access to existing member-exclusive perks until their current cycle naturally concludes.
  • Full Open-Source Release Date: August 1, 2026Our existing premium technical videos, research source codes, and development datasets will be sequentially converted to public access. All assets will be hosted and shared with the global community on the QUAD Official Technical Blog.

๐Ÿ”— Reorganized QUAD Technical Channels

While the paid subscription is coming to an end, our technical documentation updates, B2B/B2G educational consulting, and open-source contributions will be enhanced through the following official pipelines:
